Poor little man

So a week and a half ago Cohen had a check up (still 15th% for weight and 85th% for height) and had to get his vaccinations.  The next day he had a fever of 104.3.  We called the Dr. and he said to give him Tylenol and monitor it.  We did that and the next day the fever was gone.  Six days later (last Thursday) Cohen was getting pretty cranky, but it was bed time so we put him to bed.  A couple of hours later he woke up screaming and was inconsolable.  Finally he tooted and had some rather violent burps.  We thought that must be the reason he was so upset, and he calmed down some.  So, we put him back to bed.  He woke up again around 2-ish in the morning (he usually sleeps 12 hours) and had a fever of 102.  I gave him some Tylenol, fed him, and put him back to bed.  We watched him Friday, and he continued to have a fever and the Tylenol wasn't helping it...but it wasn't too high, so we thought the doctor would just tell us to watch it.  He also started developing a nasty cough.  Saturday he started getting lethargic, and he hadn't been eating much so we started to get worried about dehydration,  etc.  So we called the Dr.  He told us we should go to the ER.  We thought he might just be blowing us off since it was Saturday night (we had never met this doctor), so Sterling called a Dr. that he works with at the hospital.  She talked to him for a bit, and recommended that we go to the hospital.  So around 9:00 we head to the hospital.  An hour and a half later the brought us back to a room in the ER. Poor little Cohen was poked and prodded all night.  Turns out he has RSV, so we were glad we went in.  They decided to admit him to monitor his oxygen and rehydrate him, and we had to wait for a room.  Finally around 3 or 4 (a.m.) we got a room.  It had a crib and a chair.  Sterling couldn't fit, so he pulled up a chair and sat in the doorway.  Cohen was so tired and upset that the slightest movement set him off (there was another couple and a 6 week old in the room too).  He wouldn't sleep in the crib, so we had to hold him the whole time.  While he was sleeping he would hold his breath every once in a while which would set off his oxygen monitor, wake him up and he would cry, which would set off his oxygen monitor....and the cycle continued.  Sterling unhooked him and turned it off.  Then his IV started beeping and after two nurses checked it out, they removed it, because it was blocked and wasn't working.  We asked to be discharged.  It took a while, but we were discharged around noon on Sunday.  After coming home, Cohen took a 4 hour nap and we took a 3 hour nap.  Then he slept 12 hours through the night, so we were able to catch up on some sleep too.  It was pretty miserable, but Cohen seems to be doing better, and we are happy to be home!
